Volcanoes National Park is one of the popular destinations in Rwanda for Gorilla trekking Safaris. The park lies in the greater Virunga Conservation area also part of the Virunga National Park in DR Congo and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda. The park attracts thousands of visitors year-round to come and see these once-endangered species. Rwanda has played a very vital role in the conservation of these Gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park. Gorillas had only one threat to their existence and that was humans. This has been solved because of the sensitisation of the masses about the importance of Mountain Gorillas to the communities and the country as a whole.
